Kenya’s Symphony began as a short film, directed, produced, and animated by Carlos Douglas Jr. The film was released in 2020, traveling around the world on the festival circuit, gaining critical acclaim.

The symphonic work, also titled Kenya’s Symphony, was released as an album in Spring 2023, containing almost 20 minutes of new music written by composer, Michael Van Bodegom Smith. You will hear a real symphony based on the short story, with each movement telling a part of Kenya’s story. The picture book for Kenya’s Symphony will also be released in 2023 for you and your family to enjoy! Will Kenya continue to cause mayhem, or will she use her straw for good?
